I've never felt this way before

Felting in the washing machine

Felt is a textile created from animal hairs by rubbing them together. Today this process is carried out in factories or in a domestic craft process. I focused on the process of domestic wet felting, using water, soap, and friction. The coronavirus lockdown made me think about our home appliances and alternative uses for them. In this project, I converted classic felting into a different process using wool fibers, a 3D printer, and a washing machine. In the new felting process that I am proposing, 3D printed molds allow users to create textures that cannot be created by other means and complex 3D shapes without manual intervention. I chose to represent the technique that I developed through hats, which have a long history with felt, for both functional and aesthetic reasons.
