Hnini

A table and two chairs

This is a project in the memory of my great great grandmother. As a child I heard many stories about her life during the British mandate in Israel. She jumped over rooftops, and saved the family from starvation with great wisdom. She was a real feminist, energetic, strong woman. When Hnini was over a 100 years old she went to her daughter's house to help her clean up the house (her daughter was 80 years old herself!). She didn't have a ladder so she climbed up a table and put a chair on top of the table, fell and died immediately. It is not a sad story. All of our family thinks it's a great way to die and that her great death suited her great life. I designed a set of two chairs and a table, which are first and foremost a ladder, to help Hnini not to fall next time.
